MoH ‘Wasted’ SR12b on Doctors Training Program |

TAIF – The Ministry of Health has “wasted” SR12 billion on a program meant to train family and community doctors because 56 percent of the graduates have ended up in administrative jobs in Makkah Region, according to informed sources quoted by Asharq Arabic daily based in Dammam.
Some of the doctors, said the sources, were assigned work in religious awareness and information technology departments.
There is only 24 percent Saudization at the country’s primary healthcare centers, according to statistics from the Ministry of Civil Service.

Violators of Health Law to be Named |

RIYADH: Health Minister Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah has approved publicizing the names of violators of private health care law in the print media, according to an announcement by the ministry.
The ministry strongly warned in the announcement that private hospitals, polyclinics, pharmacies and any other health care facilities should not break the rules.
"Violators’ names will be advertised in three publications local to them. The expenses of the advertisements will be borne by violators according to clause 3 of Article 5 of the law, in addition to the fines prescribed by the appropriate health care law violation committees at the ministry," the statement added.

ADHD Society Leads the Way |

RIYADH: The Saudi ADHD Society and Support Group AFTA organized a five-day leadership-training program for pediatricians and family physicians that started Saturday.
Suad Al-Yamani, director of AFTA, said the program’s mission was to educate physicians about attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), through workshops, practical training and lectures by specialized speakers.

RIYADH: The Ministry of Health (MoH) and the General Directorate of Passports (DGP) have announced the launch of an electronic health certificate system.
“The system links electronically both of MoH and DGP to share the electronic health certificate information for the purposes of iqama (work permit) issuance and renewal,” said Muhammed Al-Yumni, supervisor general of the IT department at the Ministry of Health, at a joint press conference with the General Directorate of Passports at the ministry in Riyadh.

Authorization a Must for Health Care Providers |

RIYADH: Private health care providers must obtain accreditation from the Central Board of Healthcare Institutions if they want to keep practicing, said the Council of Health Services that is chaired by Minister of Health Abdullah Al-Rabeeah.
The council said getting accreditation will be compulsory to stay in business and no private health care facility license will be renewed otherwise.
The council is an umbrella organization composed of all government and private health service providers in the country, while the board is the Kingdom's body for accrediting these providers whether public or private.
