JEDDAH – A leading drug producing company is taking voluntary, precautionary action to end the supply of its zinc-containing denture adhesives as long-term excessive use has been associated with potential health risks. The GlaxoSmithKline has said its zinc-containing and zinc-free adhesives under the Corega brand are no more recommended.
It also said that it would transition to zinc-free versions of all affected variants. “Zinc Free” will be clearly shown on the new packaging. Dr. Howard Marsh, Chief Medical Officer, GSK Consumer Healthcare, pointed out that the safety of their consumers is their primary concern. “It’s important for consumers to know that Corega remains safe to use as directed on the product label. We are taking this voluntary action because we have become aware of potential health problems,” Marsh said. – SG |
