    A new strain of MRSA has been found in cows’ milk.

    The same strain of the superbug has also been discovered in patients being treated for wound infections.

    It is the first time any form of MRSA has been traced to dairy cattle in the UK.

    A man blinded in one eye by a chemical attack as he intervened to stop a fight has had his sight restored thanks to pioneering new stem cell treatment.


    Russell Turnbull, 38, lost most of the vision in his right eye when he had ammonia sprayed into it as he tried to break up a fight on a late night bus journey home.

    The attack, which badly burned and scarred his cornea, left him with permanent blurred sight and pain whenever he blinked.

    RIYADH: Saudi Arabia announced yesterday its first case of swine flu after a Filipino nurse living in the Kingdom tested positive for the disease.

    Health Minister Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah said the nurse didn’t show any symptoms of the H1N1 virus when she arrived in Riyadh last Friday from the Philippines. She developed symptoms three days later and was tested as part of a routine check at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, where she works. A second test confirmed the virus yesterday morning.
