Added On : 30th March 2015

JEDDAH  — At least 200 people suffering from asthma and other respiratory illnesses have visited public hospitals in Jeddah Sunday following a dust storm that swept across the city.

Dr. Samir Ibrahim, the head of the ER at the Department of Health Affairs, said that they are following the situation with ERs at hospitals across the city. He added that they have enhanced the capacities of these departments by providing medications and cooperation.

Dr. Ibrahim said people with asthma or breathing problems should avoid going out in such weather and to use facemasks if needed.

The Presidency of Meteorology & Environment (PME) said southern winds, accompanied with sand, will result in poor visibility and will increase the heat in the Southwest and Western regions of the Kingdom.

The storm will also extend to the Central and Northern regions. Rains are expected in Northern cities including Tabuk, Al-Jouf and Hail. Meanwhile, the traffic police called on drivers to exercise extra caution while driving.
