By combining insulin pumps with continuous blood sugar sensors, people with diabetes get better blood sugar control than those using finger-stick testing and insulin shots, new research suggests.
The findings come from an analysis of studies comparing new technologies to traditional methods for monitoring and controlling blood sugar.

Patients lives are being put at risk by a nationwide shortage of critical medicines because pharmaceutical companies are rationing drugs, NHS leaders have warned.
Four in five NHS trusts in England and Wales say patients are suffering unacceptable delays for drugs to treat life-threatening conditions including cancer, Parkinsons disease, schizophrenia and organ failure.
A survey of 60 NHS authorities found that the shortage was doing patients serious harm, with some having to be admitted to hospital for emergency treatment after they were unable to get their medicines. Read More

They found a link between high levels of dental plaque, or bacteria, and dying from cancer up to 13 years earlier than might otherwise be expected.
