ABHA A medical error at a private hospital in Abha paralyzed the arm of a child.
The child's father said his wife was due to give birth at a government hospital in Al-Namas, when the doctors told him that she needs a Caesarean operation.
He took her to a private hospital, and she gave normal birth. After her birth, a medical report indicated that the baby was suffering from breathing difficulties, and lack of movement in the upper left membrane.
The supervising doctor denied any mistakes. She said that a Caesarean operation was needed. However, the baby was pulled out which caused the separation of the child's left arm nerve.
The hospital admitted the child to the intensive care unit. After six days, the hospital discharged the child, and asked the father to pay the cost of the additional treatment, in addition to delivery costs.
The father took his child to King Khalid University Hospital, where a neurosurgeon was available to operate on the child. The child underwent three operations, but all failed. His left arm was permanently paralyzed.
The private hospital offered a compensation of SR9,000. The father is demanding that the hospital bear all costs of treatment. He filed his complaint nine months ago.
