Forum Focuses on ADHD Worries

RIYADH: Saudi Ambassador to the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland Prince Muhammad bin Nawaf attended a conference on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) at the InterContinental Hotel in Riyadh.
The event, which began on Saturday and runs through Wednesday, is being sponsored by the Saudi ADHD Support Group with the participation of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Prince Muhammad is the honorary president of the Saudi ADHD Support Group.
The best way to deal with kids who have ADHD is to understand them and love them, as well as to know how to approach and deal with them, said the prince.
Dr. John Forbes, executive director of the American Academy of Pediatrics, said ADHD is an international health problem.
Many parents struggle with their children with ADHD, not really able to deal with this condition, said Forbes. The contribution of different countries is important to finding solutions to the problem. I believe that Saudi Arabias efforts to conduct such a conference is valuable because it will help share experience.
Dr. Suad Yamani, president of the Saudi ADHD Support Group, pointed out that ADHD is one of the increasingly common problems facing Saudi families.
According to the World Health Organization, 6 to 10 percent of children in Riyadh schools suffer from ADHD, said Yamani.
