Araqa Hospital not Affiliated to Ministry

RIYADH The Ministry of Health has clarified that the Araqa Hospital, which was established as a private hospital several years ago but did not become operational, is not affiliated to the ministry.
The clarification came in response to comments posted on Internet sites accusing the ministry of neglecting the health care facility.
The ministry said in a statement Monday that it had formed a committee comprising representatives of a number of government agencies a few years ago to study the possibility of benefiting from the structure. The committee found the building was quite old and lacked modern facilities and thus technically unfit for hospital purposes.
The committee recommended that the structure required complete refurbishing if the ministry had plans to make use of it. The ministry has repeatedly said the facility does not belong to it.
