MADINAH — The Ministry of Health announced Wednesday the setting up of a SR15 million specialist medical laboratory to combat Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus in Madinah.
The ministry said the facility would test samples from suspected coronavirus cases and provide the results within six hours. Earlier it used to take more than 24 hours because the samples used to be sent to the Regional Laboratory in Jeddah. Dr. Muhammad Qutub, director of laboratories at ministry’s Command and Control Center, said the laboratory has been developed according to the recommendation of experts locally and from abroad.
