The meeting will be held under the patronage of Princess Haifa bint Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, chairman of the Zahra Breast Cancer Society in Riyadh.

Dr. Mohamed Al-Khiyami, KACST general supervisor for research and grants, said the meeting would focus on breast cancer among women in the Kingdom, and it will be held at the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Hall at the KFSH.

The meeting , he said, will discuss the nature of this disease, symptoms, and review the latest scientific discoveries in the treatment and detection methods of the disease.

The supervisor said the meeting would chalk out a national plan to screen breast cancer using new technology.

Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer among women in the world and it represents 24 percent of all cancers found in women in the Kingdom.

According to reports, most of the breast cancer patients in the Kingdom, as well as in the region, are detected at a late stage as most patients do not seek medical advice in time.

Established in 2007, the Zahra Breast Cancer Society, headed by Princess Haifa bint Faisal bin Abdulaziz, endeavors to actively participate in the fight and eradication of breast cancer in Saudi Arabia, so that present and future generations can lead a peaceful and safe life, unthreatened by this disease.

The Mission of the society is to increase and spread awareness among women across the country for early detection, prevention and treatment of the disease, and cooperate with women diagnosed with breast cancer on a step-by-step basis for treatment and ultimate recovery.
