  • Brushing Teeth 'Halts' Heart Disease

    People who fail to brush their teeth twice a day are putting themselves at risk of heart disease, say researchers.

    A Scottish study of more than 11,000 adults found those with poor oral hygiene had a 70% increased risk of heart disease compared with those who brushed twice a day.

    The British Medical Journal study backs previous work showing a link between gum disease and heart problems.

    JEDDAH – A study has shown that six percent of Saudi women take contraceptive pills without consulting a doctor, relying instead on the advice of friends or pharmacists.
     
    Dr. Hisham Arab, Secretary General of the Saudi Society for Obstetrics and Gynecology and who carried out the study, said that only 30 percent of Saudi women using the pill do so under the supervision of a doctor.
